Job Description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work at our Fairfax, VA corporate office and/or designated Government locations. This position requires regular onsite/SCIF support, up to 4 days per week based on mission and classification requirements.

Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding.

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the development, integration, operation, and sustainment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud solutions for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer.

The Cloud Engineer will work as part of an integrated technical team supporting AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, classified cloud, and hybrid environments. The position will support customer applications and core cloud services in both classified and unclassified environments with an emphasis on secure, stable, repeatable, and cost effective operations.

The is an interactive mid-level engineering position for a candidate with a solid foundation in cloud infrastructure, Linux, automation, networking, containers, and security protocols who can execute technical tasks independently while working with senior engineers and architects on more complex designs and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deploy, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and services within AWS and other supported cloud environments.
  • Support Linux systems administration including configuration, patching, troubleshooting, package management, services, permissions, logging, and security hardening/STIG implementation.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or comparable tooling under established engineering standards.
  • Support containerized application and platforms using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployments, services, basic networking, storage, and troubleshooting.
  • Support CI/CD and DevOps workflows using GitLab or comparable tooling, including automated build, test, security, and deployment processes.
  • Implement and maintain AWS services such as IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, load balancing, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Lambda, RDS, and related services based on approved architectures.
  • Support cloud security and compliance activities including IAM/lead privilege, encryption, security groups, networking controls, logging/monitoring, vulnerability remediation, patching, and configuration compliance.
  • Troubleshoot cloud, Linux, networking, container, and application infrastructure issues; escalate complex architecture or platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Support IP networking and cloud connectivity including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPCs/subnets, security groups, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Develop and maintain system configuration, architecture, operating procedure, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Monitor system health, logging, alerting, and performance and assist with identifying and resolving operational issues.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, cybersecurity, program and project management, stakeholders, and Government representatives to deliver and sustain technical solutions.
  • Evaluate customer issues, research technical options, and provide recommendations to senior engineers and technical leadership.
  • Support technical solution development, demonstrations, and proposal/capture activities as needed.

Salary: $125,000 - $173,000

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen as required by contract.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or equivalent directly relevant experience, subject to contractual labor category requirements.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance and be eligible and willing to obtain SCI access and a CI polygraph
  • 3+ years of experience with IT infrastructure, systems administration, DevOps, or cloud engineering, including at least 2 years of hands on experience supporting cloud environments.
  • Hands on experience with AWS and a working understanding of core services such as IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, load balancing, and related cloud services.
  • Experience with Linux administration, including configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and basic security hardening.
  • Experience with IAC or configuration automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or comparable tooling.
  • Working experience with Docker and Kubernetes or another enterprise container platform.
  • Experience with Git-based development/operations workflows and CI/CD concepts; GitLab experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPCs/subnets, security groups, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security principles including IAM, least privilege, encryption, network controls, logging/monitoring, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues across cloud infrastructure, Linux systems, networking, and/or containerized environments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical and configuration documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary technical team.
  • Must meet applicable DoD cybersecurity workforce qualification requirements for the position (e.g., DOD 8570-01M certification: IAM Level I or better (e.g., Security+) or equivalent).
