Overview

Allspring is looking for a Cloud Engineer and builder to join our Cloud Solutions team on a full-time basis. Cloud Solutions owns DevOps, API/Compute/Microservice platforms, Technology Standards, and the engineering behind new capabilities, including AI, cross-cloud, and emerging service and pattern adoption. This role sits within the new capabilities engineering function, focused on enabling the business directly through technology and partnership, prototyping and piloting new AWS and cross-cloud capabilities, and working closely with the rest of Cloud Solutions to bring them into production.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.

Location(s): Milwaukee, WI and Charlotte, NC

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands-on expert and builder for cloud-based technologies, with security, performance, operability, and scale in mind.• Build strong relationships with developers, technology teams, solution teams and business application owners• Define, implement, and enforce industry best practices.• Develop and implement new innovative and differentiating cloud technologies• Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, technology teams, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals• Design, build, and solutions on AWS to explore new services, patterns, and capabilities ahead of broader adoption• Build and support workloads and integrations across AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric and similar platforms• Assist with AI enablement efforts on Amazon Bedrock, working with the team to deliver capabilities such as cross-account access, IAM governance, model invocation logging, and usage tracking• Prototype and pilot AI-enabled tools and agents, such as Claude-based agents and MCP servers, within secure AWS account boundaries• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate needs into working systems• Work with the Cloud Solutions team’s DevOps, platform, and Enterprise Architecture functions to help deliver prototypes into production• Help develop firm-wide cloud standards• Maintain clear documentation of solutions, architecture decisions, and lessons learned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher MIS, CS or other technology related field• 5+ years of engineering and technology experience, preferably in Financial Services, Technology, or related field• Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines with limited supervision• Proven strong verbal and written communication skills• Effective influencing and consensus-building skills• Strategic focus on problem-solving• Strong teaching and mentoring skills• Strong presentation and communication skills• Position may require occasional travel outside of primary work location • 3+ years of AWS or other hyperscale cloud provider implementation experience• Proven experience working effectively in heavily distributed environment• Consulting experience is a plus• Exhibited experience with maintaining strong documentation• Experience with the ability to transfer knowledge to key members of the team and act as a value-added resource• Ability to interact confidently with counterparts at all levels within the firm• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills• Demonstrated ability collaborate with teams spanning a range of locations
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.• Ability to work at a computer and use standard business software for extended periods during the workday.• Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and business partners in person and electronically as needed.• Engage in regular in-person interaction and collaboration with team members and other stakeholders.• Work effectively in a professional office environment with ongoing collaboration, activity, and shifting priorities.• Maintain productivity and focus while balancing multiple tasks and interruptions common in an in-person business setting.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $120,000 - $140,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
