Cloud Engineer

At Bayer, we are committed to transparency, equal pay for equal work or work of equal value, and objective reward practices in line with EU and local regulations. The minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 15 360 with final pay determined based on objective factors such as experience, qualifications, scope of responsibility, and internal alignment.

This position is eligible for variable pay components, such as performance‑based bonuses, awarded in accordance with the applicable employee group, role scope, and compensation structure.

For Digital Hub Warsaw, we are looking for:

Cloud Engineer

Join the EMEA DevOps team as a Cloud Engineer supporting cloud-based Digital Applications in the DevOps V2 Operating Model. You will help ensure reliable Run operations, deliver structured Change initiatives, automate AWS services, and strengthen operational excellence in a regulated enterprise environment.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver, operate, and improve cloud-based Digital Applications and AWS services within the DevOps V2 model.
  • Support Run activities including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident support, service continuity, and operational readiness.
  • Deliver Change activities including enhancements, automation, infrastructure updates, and technical backlog items.
  • Build and maintain AWS infrastructure with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
  • Manage and optimize Amazon ECS clusters for reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Automate operational tasks and deployment patterns using Python, Bash, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and deployments across development, test, and production environments.
  • Use Azure DevOps boards for backlog refinement, sprint execution, task tracking, and transparent status reporting.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, handover materials, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders, key users, QA, IT security, and external partners to drive reliable, compliant delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, scalability, security, audit readiness, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, or digital application operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Amazon ECS, Linux, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, agile delivery, backlog refinement, and sprint execution.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, and Linux shell scripting.
  • Solid understanding of networking, secure connectivity, containers, virtualization, and cloud-native operating models.
  • Experience in regulated IT environments with compliance, documentation, audit readiness, and quality requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Fluent English; German language skills are preferred.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on cloud and DevOps engineer who combines operational discipline with change delivery. They are automation-driven, documentation-focused, and confident working across technical teams, business stakeholders, QA, IT security, and external partners.
