As the Cloud Architect for our AI Orchestration Platform, you will own the end-to-end technical architecture of the platform. You will set the direction for how the platform’s services are designed, scaled and evolved across data, APIs, runtime, security and integration, and partner with engineering, product and operations to turn that direction into shipped software. This is a pure individual contributor role with no direct reports. Your impact comes from the quality of your architecture, the clarity of your designs, and your ability to align engineers and stakeholders around pragmatic technical decisions.

What You will Do

• Own the architecture of the AI Orchestration Platform end-to-end: service decomposition, data model, APIs, runtime, integration patterns and non-functional characteristics (scalability, reliability, security, cost).
• Define the target architecture and a credible roadmap from where the platform is today to where it needs to be.
• Write RFCs and architecture decision records (ADRs), lead design reviews, and align engineering, product and operations around the chosen direction.
• Partner with tech leads to break down large initiatives into shippable increments, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health.
• Set and evolve the standards for how services are built, deployed and operated on Kubernetes — including API design, observability, identity, multi-tenancy and SLOs.
• Collaborate with the UI Architect, AI Practice Lead, Platform Engineering and SRE to ensure the platform fits cleanly into the broader Dstny technical landscape.
• Drive cross-cutting initiatives — performance, reliability, security, data, cost, developer experience — that span multiple services and squads.
• Represent platform architecture in technical discussions with customers, partners and other engineering groups when needed.
• Coach senior and staff engineers, and raise the engineering bar through deep design reviews and direct hands-on contribution where it matters most.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of designing and operating production systems at scale.
• Demonstrated experience as a Staff, Principal or Architect-level IC. You have owned the architecture of distributed systems and led engineers across teams without direct authority.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems: APIs, messaging, consistency, caching, backpressure, performance, scalability and multi-tenancy.
• Strong experience designing, operating and evolving Kubernetes-based platforms, including observability, SLOs and incident response.
• Solid grounding in at least one major backend language and working fluency across several; comfortable reading code in any.
• Solid understanding of networking, identity and security fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS, OAuth/OIDC, firewalls, reverse proxies).
• Pragmatic data architecture skills across relational and non-relational stores, event streaming and analytics pipelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication: you can write a clear RFC, run a productive design review, and explain trade-offs to engineers, product and executives alike.
• Fluent in English. Any other language is a plus.
