Description & Requirements

Working in tech at Australia Post is where innovation and problem solving meets great people and agile working. You’ll work with bright people on building and maintaining products and services that you and every other Australian get to benefit from every day. Whether you’re working from our modern office or your one at home, you’ll be part of a culture of collaboration and connection, making long-lasting impact right across Australia.

About the opportunity

We are hiring a Cloud Architect to play a key role in shaping our cloud architecture strategy, standards and transition roadmaps.

Reporting to the Principal Architect, you will drive platform direction, influence investment decisions, and ensure cloud capabilities enable business strategy while scaling securely and accelerating delivery. This role blends strategic architecture leadership with selective engagement across programs, guiding teams through clear guardrails, consistent patterns and evolving platforms, while ensuring real-world delivery insights continuously inform and strengthen our cloud strategy. You will bring strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), supported by solid knowledge of Azure, with exposure to AWS considered a nice to have.

This is a great opportunity to shape enterprise-wide cloud strategy, influence major investment decisions, and drive scalable, secure platform outcomes at the heart of Australia Post’s technology transformation.

What you’ll deliver with us

  • Shape and evolve the enterprise cloud architecture strategy, principles, standards and reference architectures.
  • Own and maintain cloud roadmaps that guide investment, platform evolution, and migration sequencing.
  • Provide architectural leadership and decision support through governance forums, ensuring trade-offs, risks and long-term impacts are explicit.
  • Enable delivery teams by setting clear guardrails, reusable patterns and approved platforms, reducing bespoke solutioning.
  • Partner with enterprise and line-of-business leaders to align cloud architecture decisions with business strategy and outcomes.

About you
You are an experienced Cloud Architect with a strong track record operating within large, complex organisations, where you’ve shaped enterprise cloud strategies and driven standards and roadmaps at scale. You bring proven experience working with major cloud service providers (GCP, Azure and AWS), with a strong focus on core service offerings, and apply this alongside deep knowledge of modern technology stacks, including SaaS, APIs, containerisation, data and identity. You understand the importance of security, compliance and information management frameworks, and bring a proactive, curious mindset, staying current on advancements in AI and large language models, and how providers such as OpenAI, Google and Anthropic are shaping enterprise technology.

What else is in it for you?

  • Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, like the opportunity to work from home two days per week
  • Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
  • Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, evolving policies for flexible working, leave types and access to health and wellbeing resources
