Job Description

Summary

The Cloud Administrator I is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and reliability of the organization’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments. This role assists in managing cloud-based services, maintaining legacy systems, and supporting day-to-day infrastructure operations.


The position works closely with infrastructure engineers, security teams, and application owners to ensure systems remain secure, available, and properly maintained. The Cloud Administrator I will perform routine operational tasks such as patching systems, responding to service requests, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, and supporting cloud-related projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Operations

  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the organization’s cloud infrastructure.
  • Support the configuration and monitoring of cloud services and resources.
  • Participate in cloud infrastructure projects including system deployments, migrations, and upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance and availability across cloud platforms.
  • Assist with implementation of cloud best practices related to security, availability, and cost management.

Hybrid Infrastructure Support

  • Maintain and support legacy on-premise systems and infrastructure components.
  • Perform routine server administration tasks including system configuration and maintenance.
  • Support hybrid connectivity between on-premise infrastructure and cloud services.
  • Assist with infrastructure modernization and migration initiatives.

System Maintenance and Patching

  • Perform regular system patching and updates for servers and infrastructure components.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with organizational patch and security policies.
  • Coordinate maintenance windows and system updates with internal stakeholders.

Service Requests and Incident Support

  • Respond to infrastructure-related service requests and support tickets.
  • Troubleshoot system issues related to servers, cloud services, and infrastructure components.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers when appropriate.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.

Project Participation

  • Assist in infrastructure and cloud-related projects.
  • Support system implementation, configuration, and testing activities.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure infrastructure requirements are met for new systems or services.

Documentation and Operational Processes

  • Maintain infrastructure documentation including system configurations and procedures.
  • Contribute to operational runbooks and technical documentation.
  • Follow established operational and change management procedures.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure platforms in Microsoft Azure
  • Basic understanding of virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity management
  • Familiarity with Windows Server administration and system maintenance
  • Experience with patch management and system updates
  • Understanding of infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to work within an IT service management or ticketing system
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders


Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • CompTIA Cloud+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
