About the team

The Clothing Commercial function at Sainsbury’s is entering an exciting next phase of growth, with a strong focus on change, improvement and optimisation across the operating model. Embedded within Commercial, the Clothing Operations and Central Merchandising team plays a key role in driving collaboration, agility and future-focused thinking, while providing the central governance required to deliver our strategy. Working across all clothing categories, the team partners closely with Category, Supply Chain, Technology and Change colleagues to establish effective frameworks and guardrails that support strong commercial performance and great customer outcomes.

More about the role

As Clothing Central Merchandiser, you will enhance decision-making across the Plan, Buy and Sell/Move lifecycle, supporting Clothing Commercial teams to achieve range productivity, availability and stock volume and cover targets. You will also support the day-to-day operation and ongoing development of the Merchandise Financial Planning (Anaplan) system. Working closely with category teams, Sainsbury’s Technology, Product Support and Change & Improvement teams, you will help maintain smooth operation, contribute to system and reporting enhancements, oversee key administration activities, and support the development of a strong Anaplan user community across Clothing merchandising.

Comfortable working cross-functionally in a complex environment, you can balance multiple priorities, problem-solve effectively and maintain pace while keeping sight of the bigger picture on stock management and financial planning.

Collaborative by nature, you build strong relationships quickly and are confident working with a broad range of stakeholders. Curious and improvement-focused, you are motivated to create new and better ways of working, contributing ideas that enhance processes, tools and outcomes, always with the customer at the centre of decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders in a complex organisational structure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting insight clearly to varied audiences
  • Clear customer focus, ensuring decisions support the delivery of desired customer outcomes
