Job Description

Ensure the successful development of new vehicle programs and the proper maintenance and lifecycle updates of current production programs, with a focus on interior trim systems and components. Meet assigned targets for performance, quality, timing, and cost.

Qualifications

Basic Qualitifcations:

Serve as the single engineering point of contact between suppliers, Purchasing, SQE, PDO, assembly plants, and other BICEE groups. Build relationships with BICEEP counterparts.

Support the Program Responsible (PR) in technical interactions with PDO and AVE.

Coordinate commodity-specific deliverables to the vehicle line in support of the PR.

Participate in platform-level meetings to resolve issues and provide general support.

Lead activities related to component timing, cost, weight, and investment for the vehicle model. Manage deliverables within the PDP system.

Lead the source package process, ensuring timely deliverables, approvals, and source awards.

Support cost loops, input technical descriptions into the Cost Service Tool (CST), and manage cost collaboration with SCIE.

Lead the approval process for ED&D funding.

Support CAD step reviews (Score Card/Gate Reviews), ensuring all engineering deliverables meet program milestones.

Lead the TKO process.

Manage compliance procedures and reporting to demonstrate regulatory adherence.

Lead change management processes (CCD, CN, PER), including cost, timing, approvals, and implementation.

Coordinate build activities and provide engineering support at assembly plants for issue resolution.

Coordinate resolution of technical issues (GIMS, Warranty, Fast Feedback, SAQ issues, etc.).

Manage component, system, and vehicle-level testing. Oversee test timing and component procurement (Mules, DV, PV, DVP&R).

Lead analysis and response to program bulletins.

Provide feedback and assess impacts from series card audits. Conduct complexity analysis and reduction.

Lead system efforts to achieve VO/TCR targets.

Obtain quotes and submit requisitions for parts and service procurement.

Coach and mentor engineers. Develop a succession plan for Power Closures.

Escalate incomplete tasks to responsible managers.

Preferred Qualitfications:

Experience in a similar role, leading product engineering teams and managing/executing projects.

8+ years of experience in the automotive industry.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, aeronautical, automotive, electromechanical/mechatronics, electrical).

Strong sense of ownership, self-direction, urgency, and meticulous attention to detail.

Proficient in technical English; comfortable presenting to senior management.

Advanced leadership, project management, negotiation, and mentoring skills.

Deep understanding of design, development, and engineering processes for automotive body and mechatronic systems (mirrors, sunroofs, powered gates).

Knowledge of manufacturing processes for BIW, stamped sheet metal components, and related secondary operations.

Familiarity with engineering materials and fastener selection.

Understanding of global automotive product development processes.

Certified in Reactive Problem Solving (Green Belt).

Basic knowledge of dimensional strategies (GD&T, datum and location schemes).

Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FMVSS, CMVSS, ECE R21, etc.) with a focus on BIW.

MBS or MBA degree.

Certified in Reactive Problem Solving (Black Belt).

Certified in DFSS (Green Belt).

Basic design skills in CAD systems (NX or CATIA).

International work experience.
