We are seeking a Real Estate Closing Officer to join our Covenant Real Estate Services Team in Roanoke!
Closing Officers are responsible for managing all facets of real estate transactions from file opening through post-closing. This role requires the use of independent judgment, strong attention to detail, and a client-focused mindset to ensure each transaction is completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and best practices.
What your day looks like:
- Reviews purchase agreements, buyer and seller contracts, refinance requests, and opens new closing files.
- Manages the full lifecycle of real estate closings, including initial client contact, funding and balancing, clearing title requirements, and preparation of lender packages.
- Coordinates and conducts real estate closings between all parties involved in the transaction.
- Orders and follows up on required documentation, including title searches, loan documents, insurance, and other closing materials.
- Works closely with title teams to resolve complex issues such as legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting issues, liens, boundary disputes, and encroachments.
- Ensures escrow funds are properly deposited, disbursed, and recorded in accordance with disbursement sheets, firm procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Completes post-closing tasks, including final package preparation, check and wire processing, and related bookkeeping activities.
- Maintains timely, professional communication with clients, lenders, REALTORS®, attorneys, and internal team members.
- Adheres to company policies, state regulations, and ALTA Best Practices throughout the closing process.
- Assists with business development efforts by maintaining strong client relationships and participating in client-related events when possible.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need for this role:
- College degree preferred; relevant experience in real estate, title, closing, lending, finance, or accounting will be considered.
- Minimum of one year of experience in real estate closings, escrow, title, or a related field preferred.
- Must be a Notary Public or able to become notary bonded.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and required auto insurance.
- Solid understanding of escrow bookkeeping, title clearance, real estate regulations, and closing documentation.
- Working knowledge of payoff calculations, tax proration, interest, and settlement statements.
- Ability to interpret lender documents and recording requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
