Job Description

We are looking for an experienced RN or CST who is versatile and proactive to handle a range of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will excel in patient rooming, intake, handling patient phone calls, following up on care plans, and providing first assist in the Operating Room (OR). This role requires a compassionate individual with strong organizational skills and a solid clinical background interested in working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide cohesive patient care.

Type: Full Time

Travel: Potential travel to Bloomington, IN one day a week with other staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • First Assist in the Operating Room:
    • Assist surgeons and other OR staff during procedures.
    • Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments.
    • Monitor patient status and assist with any required interventions during surgery.
  • Patient Rooming & Intake:
    • Greet and prepare patients for their appointments or procedures.
    • Collect and document patient history, vital signs, and other relevant information.
    • Coordinate with other healthcare providers to ensure a smooth patient experience.
  • Patient Communication and Plan of Care:
    • Manage patient phone inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
    • Address patient concerns and triage issues as needed.
    • Communicate with patients regarding their ongoing treatment plans and necessary follow-up actions.
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust care plans based on patient progress and feedback.

Education Requirements:

  • Current RN license in Indiana or current CST certification from a recognized body.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred, preferably with surgical or procedural experience.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Working Conditions:

Working environment is in a clinical/surgical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a surgical environment. Work requires standing and walking or other means of mobility for extended periods of time. Position requires full range of body motion including reaching, handling and lifting/assisting patients, handling of instruments and equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients. Requires working under stressful conditions. Regularly interacts with the staff, physicians, business associates, and the public.
