About our Clinician position
Under the supervision and direction of the assigned Lead Clinician or Clinician Manager, provide quality care to all patients in compliance with state law, affiliate medical standards and guidelines, organizational protocols, and current evidence-based standards of care. Works with Health Center Manager to optimize workflow and efficiency ensuring organization’s key performance metrics are met.
In compliance with PPGNHAIK medical standards and guidelines, affiliate clinicians examine, screen, diagnose, and treat all patients based on current evidence, best practices, and clinical judgment
When designated, follows up abnormal findings and test results appropriately
Seeks consultation and makes appropriate referrals when clinical situations extend beyond their scope or when required by affiliate protocols.
Accurately document in PPGNHAIK’s electronic health record and support the function of revenue cycle by entering appropriate charges, diagnosis and CPT codes.
Implements new patient services into clinical practice in accordance with protocols and PPGNHAIK training.
Serves as clinical leader in the health center on a day-to-day basis, partnering with the health center manager to ensure quality care, a highly functioning and collaborative health care team, and a positive patient experience, and operational success – including but not limited to visit volume goals (3-4pt/hr).
Participates in affiliate education and updating meetings.
Major Responsibilities
Within state specified licensure and scope of practice and PPGNHAIK Medical Standards and Guidelines and privilege, provides confidential healthcare in a compassionate, professional and culturally competent manner to create a positive patient experience.
Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats reproductive health concerns including preventive care, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, gender affirming hormone care, and common gynecological conditions.
Identifies clinical emergencies and institutes with appropriate measures.
Supports organizational operations metrics by meeting clinician productivity benchmarks and ensuring accurate and timely charge entries, including assignment of appropriate diagnosis and CPT codes.
Maintains a cooperative and professional relationship among the health care team by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem-solving, and serving as the clinical expert and resource in PPGNHAIK health centers.
Serves as a delegator for support staff as required by state regulations (i.e. Medical Assistants).
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with universal precautions, OSHA/WISHA, CLIA, PPFA, and PPGNHAIK policies and procedures.
Participate in organization research projects as they affect medical functions.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Unless specifically requested by the Clinician Manager, this role is considered 100% clinical. Administrative duties such as chart audits, or leading didactic trainings may be assigned by Clinician Managers on an as needed basis.
Clinician Ladder
Clinicians will be assigned a place on the “clinician ladder” based on their demonstrated proficiency with a specific clinical skill set. Specifications of skills that fall into each step of the clinician ladder can be found on the clinical services drive.
Clinicians – level 2 and above serve as clinical preceptors and mentors to newly hired PPGNHAIK Clinicians, and when approved by Clinician Managers, external learners such as Medical Residents, APC and other students.
Clinicians may be offered opportunities to acquire additional skills and competencies that support advancement along the clinician ladder. These opportunities are based on the clinician's existing skill set, demonstrated engagement in independent learning, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to health center work. Opportunities are ultimately contingent on the business needs of the organization. Such opportunities may not be available at every location.
Location of Work
Each Clinician will have a designated health center home. On occasion, clinicians may have a split health center assignment where they provided consistent and predictable scheduled care at more than one health center location.
Float Clinicians work at multiple sites as assigned. Assignments at such health centers may not be predictable or consistent.
MA/MS in related field preferred.
Certifications
BLS
ACLS may be required at the Clinician Manager discretion and based on services rendered
At least 1 year of experience providing women’s health care is preferred.
License
Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or
Physician Assistant in the PPGNHAIK state of planned clinical practice.
Cross licensing may be required based on skill and organization’s need in other geographies.
Salary Range:
Alaska - $46.09 - $98.87
*Salary will be commensurate with experience -
