Works under moderate supervision in the Veterinary Research and Oncology Center (VROC) in the Department of Radiation to provide high-quality veterinary care to canine and feline oncology patients owned by private clients. Works to advance the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for patients and furthering cancer research in humans.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education
    Veterinary degree (D.V.M./V.M.D./B.V.Sc.) from AVMA accredited school
  • Experience
    2 years - completion of two (2) years in a veterinary practice or

    2 years postdoctoral training program setting
Preferred
  • Experience
    Additional years of relevant experience
  • Licenses and Certifications
    Current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the United States Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES
  • Delivers clinical care for privately owned pet dogs and cats.
  • Participates and conducts rounds and support in the management and follow-up care of enrolled patients.
  • Performs sample collections, including minor tumor biopsies from patients.
  • Safely restrains animals for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administers and supervises anesthesia and analgesia to patients during medical and radiation oncology treatments.
  • Communicates effectively with clients regarding diagnostics and procedures performed on their pets.
  • Supervises the submission of samples to external laboratories.
  • Maintains strict adherence to regulatory guidelines, especially regarding the use of controlled substances.
  • Participates in clinical research and collaborates with medical doctors.
  • Assists in Institutional Animal Care and Research Advisory Committee protocol preparation and reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
