Position Summary
Innovo is seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Patient Recruitment Coordinator to support pre-screening and outreach activities for clinical trials at piedmont healthcare. This role plays a critical part in connecting patients with research opportunities by conducting eligibility pre-screens, performing outreach calls, and helping patients understand the benefits and expectations of participating in clinical studies.
This position is ideal for individuals with clinical or medical office experience (MA, CMA, medical office assistant, scheduler, patient access specialist, etc.) who are passionate about patient communication and supporting community health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound calls, messages, and follow-ups to patients identified as potential matches for clinical trials
- Provide clear, compassionate explanations of study purpose, participation requirements, and next steps
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients to ask questions and express interest
- Perform study-specific pre-screening questionnaires to determine initial patient eligibility
- Review patient medical history, EMR data, and inclusion/exclusion criteria under the direction of research staff
- Accurately document all pre-screening outcomes and next steps
- Schedule qualifying patients for screening visits or follow-up calls with the research team
- Coordinate communication between research coordinators, providers, and patients
- Maintain organized tracking of outreach attempts, responses, and conversions
- Maintain accurate logs of outreach efforts in the designated tracking systems
- Enter pre-screening data and patient notes into electronic medical record (EMR) and research databases
- Ensure all documentation meets Piedmont and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with Research Coordinators, Patient Recruitment Manager, and site staff to meet enrollment goals
- Support recruitment events, referral programs, and community outreach efforts as needed
- Help identify barriers to enrollment and share patient feedback with the research team

Qualifications

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in a clinical, patient-facing, or medical office environment
- - Examples: MA, CMA, medical office assistant, patient access/scheduler, CNA, clinical support staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including comfort making outbound calls
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to follow protocols and maintain accuracy in documentation
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting clinical research or patient recruitment
- Experience reviewing patient charts or conducting health-related screenings
