The Role
The Clinical Trial Assistant – Phlebotomy/Laboratory, will provide support to the Research Study Coordinators and Clinical Trials Team by performing standard of care and clinical trial specific participant assessments, biospecimen sample processing, inventory management, and administration activities as required by specific protocols and the Clinical Trials Team.
Key responsibilities include:
Collect blood samples via venepuncture and collect other specimens at specific time points.
Process blood samples as required per protocols, including operating centrifuge to prepare/separate blood samples.
Assist in tracking, storing, organising, and shipping biospecimen samples.
Perform various tests, including vital signs assessments, height, weight measurements, Holter and ECGs at specific time points per protocols.
Preparation and organisation of clinical trial kits and consumables, including associated administrative duties.
Work with internal departments and external vendors as required, including assisting with query resolutions, liaising with couriers and supporting the nursing team with various activities.
Regular communication with study coordinators to achieve timely scheduling of patients, collection of samples, and administration activities.
About you
The successful applicant will bring knowledge and relevant experience and to excel in this role supporting and promoting Cabrini Research.
You will have:
A Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collection (required)
Recent experience in venepuncture and ECG collection is essential (minimum of one year’s recent experience required)
Experience with blood sample processing preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of an effective team
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate documentation
