The Clinical Transporter I transports patients in the hospital, monitors the patient's condition enroute and during procedures as needed. Also, transports items, equipment, charts and/or specimens that are unable to travel via pneumatic tube system.
The Clinical Transporter I
Transports non-monitored patients (via wheelchair, bed, stretcher, transport chair, transcart and other transportation devices), specimens, charts, films, and equipment to and from designated areas within the hospital.
Provoides quality patient care and service.
Completes transport calls (responds to, arrives at, completed within expected time for transportation department) in a customer friendly manner.
Collaborates with the RN, physician, and other clinicians to meet the transportation needs of the patient.
Completes documentation and reports changes in patient status to licensed staff.
Receives and screens in coming requests via phone and other wireless technology.
Assists with new staff department orientation.
Maintains a safe comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
Contributes to Carilion Clinics performance improvement activities. Actively participates in obtaining desired service line/ departmental operational excellence targets and scorecard goals.
Maintains oxygen and wheelchairs, stretchers, transport-chairs, transcarts, etc.
C ross-trains and understands needs of other departments or services.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent education required.
Experience: none
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Demonstrates excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills. Utilizes proper body mechanics. Must have knowledgeable of patient's rights and respects the rights of the patient to include accepting or refusing medical care. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that can be stressful with frequent interruptions and requires prioritization changes and problem-solving skills.
