Cleveland Clinic’s G90 Urology/Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from youngadulttogeriatric,however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion.


A caregiver in this position worksnights, from 7:00pm—7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as takingvital signsandweight,assistingpatients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesand removing urinary FoleyCatheters.

  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.

  • Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)within new hire period(NursingStudent req to have prior to hire)

  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

  • Additionaleducation/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience

  • Nursing studentswho have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotationas part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
