
Medical Assistant Lead provides advanced clinical support while coordinating daily Medical Assistant workflows, supporting team readiness, and resolving escalated operational issues in ambulatory and specialty practice environments. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a physician or other licensed provider and within approved clinical protocols, applicable state requirements, and site standards for Medical Assistant work. Medical Assistant Lead works with limited supervision as an advanced clinical support specialist. Serves as an indirect leader by coordinating activities, providing training and guidance, and resolving escalated issues. Decisions impact team effectiveness, workflow quality, and patient support outcomes.
Key Responsibilities • Coordinate daily Medical Assistant workflows, patient rooming coverage, clinical support assignments, and visit readiness activities to support efficient clinic operations. • Serve as a team lead resource for Medical Assistant staff by answering workflow questions, reinforcing site standards, and supporting consistent execution of approved clinical protocols. • Perform advanced Medical Assistant duties, including complex visit preparation, procedure support, point-of-care testing oversight, medication support, and documentation review within established protocols. • Train and guide Medical Assistant staff on clinical procedures, electronic health record workflows, infection prevention practices, documentation expectations, and site-specific standards. • Resolve escalated clinical support workflow issues, including patient flow delays, documentation discrepancies, supply gaps, equipment readiness concerns, and non-routine operational barriers. • Review clinical support work quality, identify recurring errors or process gaps, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen consistency and patient support outcomes. • Partner with licensed clinical staff and site leadership to implement workflow changes, support quality gap closure activities, and reinforce clinical support standards across the team.
