Forensicare
Forensicare (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is Victoria’s specialist provider of forensic mental health services. We deliver recovery-focused programs that support consumers living with serious mental illness or problematic behaviours who are connected to, or at risk of contact with, the justice system, across a variety of settings including community-based services, inpatient units, and secure environments throughout Victoria.
Position Objective
The Clinical Support Team (CST) Coordinator provides operational leadership of the Clinical Support Team at Thomas Embling Hospital, with primary responsibility for leading practices and strategies that prevent, reduce and safely manage clinical violence and aggression. Reporting to the Clinical Supports Manager, the Coordinator leads a team of Clinical Support Leads and Clinical Support Workers to deliver timely clinical support, therapeutic engagement, early intervention, de-escalation and incident response services that enhance safety for consumers, staff and visitors while supporting recovery-oriented care across a 24-hour, seven-day operation.
The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the CST operates as a proactive and responsive service that supports treating teams to prevent and manage clinical violence and aggression, safely reduce restrictive practices, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment. Working in partnership with key clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, the Coordinator provides visible leadership in promoting relational, operational and environmental security, advancing evidence-informed, trauma-informed
and least restrictive approaches to care, and embedding best-practice approaches to risk reduction and the prevention and management of clinical violence and aggression.
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the CST, the Coordinator oversees service delivery, workforce deployment, staff supervision and operational performance. The role strengthens workforce capability through training, clinical education, coaching and support, while fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Coordinator supports capability development, quality improvement initiatives, incident review processes and the implementation of clinical support strategies that improve safety outcomes across the service.
