Job Description

With nearly 25 years of experience, our Bathgate location in Scotland, UK is an integral part of Catalent’s European clinical supply services network. This 141,000 sq. ft. facility has a comprehensive range of capabilities to support sponsors’ studies throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, including clinical supply management, FastChain® demand-led supply, clinical-scale commercial packaging, and QP release services.

We have high-speed, automated primary packaging for blisters, as well as semi-automated primary packaging for bottles. We offer packaging design services on site, as well as secondary packaging and clinical labeling services.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Clincial Supplies Manager to join our team. In this role, you will provide leadership and support in planning, developing, and executing clinical supply chain activities. You will manage cross-functional deliverables and coordinate with supply partners and functions such as packaging, distribution, depots, and logistics. This position is key to ensuring timely planning, accurate forecasting, and effective management of investigational supplies for all phases of clinical trials. Flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and quick problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

The Role

  • Interpret clinical study protocols and translate requirements into accurate clinical drug supply forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain study drug demand projections and supply plans throughout the lifecycle of clinical studies.
  • Use simulation tools and supply chain expertise to design efficient, risk-based clinical supply strategies.
  • Monitor study progress and reforecast supply requirements based on enrolment, country, site, or protocol changes.
  • Manage Interactive Response Technology (IRT) supply strategy, including specification development, threshold recommendations, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ongoing oversight.
  • Oversee drug inventory levels across depots and warehouses, ensuring continuity of supply and avoiding stock-outs.
  • Coordinate drug manufacturing, packaging, and distribution activities with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting, process improvement, training, and business development activities to enhance clinical supply operations.

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, supply chain, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience with at least 4 years in clinical supply management and demonstrable knowledge of the complete clinical supplies life cycle.
  • Experience in supply tracking requirements and systems.
  • Experience in the use of forecasting tools.
  • Global logistics experience and understanding related to supply chains, import/export, drug depots, comparator or co-therapy product sourcing, and project management.
  • Working knowledge of the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and EMA GMP and GDP Guidelines, and a solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Working knowledge of global supply labeling requirements.
  • Understanding of roles, responsibilities, and inter-dependencies for key functions involved in clinical supply.
  • Strong knowledge in Interactive Response Technology (IRT) as it relates to supply chain management.

  • Skilled in client relationship management and ability to influence customer demand.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office programs, with a particular aptitude for Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
