How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

This position is full time, working Monday-Friday, day hours.

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision of assigned staff. Organizes, prioritizes, directs, supervises, and evaluates clinical care delivered by the various levels of staff. Has direct interaction with clinical staff, providers, patients, families, and regulatory agencies.

The Clinical Supervisor

  • Supervises a team of clinical staff to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care for patients of all ages, meeting all State, Federal, and Joint Commission regulatory requirements, as well as organizational quality and customer service standards.
  • Assumes accountability for assisting with appropriate patient placement, resource utilization, and administrative decision-making.
  • In coordination and consultation with Carilion leadership, communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, and problem-solves to ensure the success of patient placement, staff resource allocation, scheduling, and operational objectives.
  • Mentors staff and serves as a role model for professional practice, collaboration, and positive work behaviors.
  • Supports staffing processes by allocating and reallocating clinical staff based on patient care needs and operational priorities.
  • Maintains responsibility for the quality of patient care and compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards, professional practice standards, and customer expectations.
  • Effectively leads conflict resolution efforts and identifies and resolves customer service issues in support of Carilion's mission, vision, and guiding principles.
  • Makes administrative decisions for the department or facility and, as necessary, notifies the individual taking administrative call in the absence of administrative leadership.
  • Communicates regularly with staff, providers, and organizational leadership.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for staff, interdisciplinary team members, and patient care issues.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and facilitates effective communication across departments to support optimal patient outcomes.

What We Require:

Education Graduation from an accredited clinical program relevant to the specialty required. Specialty may be Nursing (RN), Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Masters), or Respiratory Therapist. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible clinical experience in the applicable discipline as described above. Recent experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehab required.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:

  • Current unrestricted Virginia license in the applicable clinical discipline required.
  • Maintains all certifications required for the clinical discipline and assigned department.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within six months of hire, as applicable to the clinical role.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CPI, specialty certifications) may be required based on department, patient population, or regulatory requirements.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates leadership and management qualities at current level practice. Must possess excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, communication skills, analytic business skills, team player, and ability to problem solve/resolve complaints.

Compensation Range:

$39.00 - $62.40

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
