Elderwood at North Creek is seeking a Clinical Staffing Specialist to manage and optimize nursing schedules while ensuring quality staffing and resident care. This critical role directly supports our mission by keeping operations smooth and staffing aligned with budgetary needs, census fluctuations, and staff availability.

This is a daytime, Monday–Friday position located in North Creek, NY, at the base of Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks.

The Clinical Staffing Specialist generates, manages, and updates master nursing schedules, adjusting as needed based on staffing, budget, attendance, and leave requirements. The role ensures communication between nursing leadership, staff, and external agencies while supporting payroll, orientation, and documentation processes.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the master staffing schedule; adjust for staffing needs, budget, and census changes

  • Prepare and update daily staffing sheets

  • Communicate consistently with the DON/ADON to ensure accurate scheduling

  • Maintain weekly vacancy listings for the DON

  • Coordinate staff time-off requests per facility guidelines

  • Train at least one backup staff member to cover scheduling responsibilities as needed

  • Assist with payroll and review exception logs for nursing and admin staff

  • Communicate with agency contacts and maintain positive, proactive relationships

  • Ensure new staff orientation schedules are accurately reflected on daily staffing sheets

  • Maintain necessary forms and records to support scheduling functions

  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

  • Follow facility policies on dress code, electronic device usage, and workplace safety

  • Support and embody Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and comply with code of conduct, HIPAA, and corporate compliance policies

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Clinical Staffing Specialist Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in a high paced environment preferably in staffing/scheduling or operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Prior experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medication Technician (Med Tech) strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with UKG strongly preferred.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
