DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Department of Spiritual Care is to provide high quality, cross-culturally sensitive spiritual care to patients, families and staff of Harborview Medical Center as well as to provide a program of pastoral education to clergy, theological students, and qualified lay persons in the hospital and the larger community which the Medical Center serves.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Be an active listener. Show that you care by being positive, supportive, discrete, respectful, friendly, easy to talk to, courteous, and welcoming
• Complete an entry into the patient’s electronic medical record after each clinical encounter. In addition, when carrying the on-call pager, chaplains must keep an accurate record in the on-call log
• Maintain patient confidentiality
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's Degree of Divinity or equivalent
• Have completed at least one unit of CPE in the ACPE Program, or equivalent. Equivalency will be determined by ACPE Supervisor(s)
• Received recommendation of ACPE supervisor
• Written verbatim of best work submitted to Department Manager
