Under the supervision of the Manager, Health Services – Respiratory Therapy & Perfusion; and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Vision & Values of St. Boniface Hospital, the Clinical Service Lead Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of respiratory care in clinical areas of St Boniface Hospital. The Clinical Service Lead Respiratory Therapist shall also be responsible for the general supervision, direction and assignment of staff & students to clinical areas. The Clinical Service Lead Respiratory Therapist shall maintain the best standards of care in accordance with existing policy and evidence.

This position may on occasion be required to provide cross coverage to other clinical areas: Critical Care – Medical/Surgical, Coronary Care; Critical Care – Cardiac Surgery, Technical; Acute Care – Emergency, Inpatient Care, University Liaison; Acute Care – Emergency & Diagnostics.

Experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience in neonatal respiratory care for Neonatology/Perinatology.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency.
  • Previous supervisory experience would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in educating, project management, policy and procedure development are assets.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent if internationally educated is required.
  • Currently licensed with M.A.R.R.T. (Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists) and in good standing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or another field of study (B.Sc., B.A., B. Ed.) with a relevant major preferred.

Special Training / Skills

  • Training in fiscal and human resource management is an asset.
  • Knowledge of hospital information systems is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support – preferred.
  • Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) - preferred.
  • Current registration/membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) is required or an equivalent professional organization, as determined by the employer for therapists not eligible for CSRT registration.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Website programming, Teleconferencing apps, etc.
