The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) has a multifaceted role incorporating the components of clinical analytics and data review, clinical practice, consultation, education, research, and current regulatory standards into the care of the organization’s patient populations. This nurse collects and analyzes clinical and operational information for use in quality/policy/risk/safety/compliance and organizational management initiatives. The CRN is responsible for collecting and submitting accurate, complete and timely data to appropriate Registries. The CRN may be responsible for analysis of a variety of specific conditions/diagnosis and submit data on various platforms of quality metrics as assigned. This includes Bariatric data to the MBSAQIP Registry. This is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation and entry of 100% of metabolic and bariatric procedures performed into the MBSAQIP Registry. The CRN works closely with members of the of all departments and specialties to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and special projects.

The CRN may be responsible to develop and conduct formal and informal education for staff regarding quality initiatives. Acts as a resource for process review and development utilizing evidence-based resources, best practices, national standards, registry and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Resource Nurse assists in facilitating projects, committees, and program and resource review that are related to systems within Enloe Health. Under the direction of the Manager, Quality Improvement the Clinical Resource Nurse works collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical departments, and department leadership in the design, implementation and use of hospital systems related to policies, procedures, and competency tracking. Assists with regulatory readiness, survey preparation and acts as a resource during survey visits. The Clinical Resource Nurse contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Health and the Quality & Safety Department.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum

One-year clinical nursing experience

Completion of the online MBSCR Training Program (within 3 months of hire) (dept tracks)

Desired

One year experience in case/quality/risk/utilization management

One-year clinical nursing experience within the most recent five years

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing

Recent experience and/or service on organizational committees

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must work effectively with a wide variety of other professionals, with tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Ability to establish smooth working relationships with physicians, staff, and external review organizations. Maintains and regularly updates clinical nursing knowledge. Must demonstrate leadership and teaching ability and have skills necessary to manage large work volume. Skilled in the collection and analysis of data, assessing data integrity, and evaluating data for statistical significance. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Working knowledge of standing organizational committees.

Demonstrates skills in complex problem solving. Demonstrates and understands collection and analysis of data along with statistical process control methods. Demonstrates evidence of strong skills in confidentiality, integrity, creativity, and initiative. Demonstrates ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals. Must be self-motivated, flexible, detail oriented, and work with multidisciplinary teams. Participates in or may facilitate committees to improve data outcomes. Proficient in the use of multiple computer software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Intranet and Internet access and use. Proficient in the use of multiple computer applications utilized within the organization, such as: Electronic Medical Record systems, Policy repository, Clinical Key, OAK, Krames and Midas. Must have knowledge of Standards Practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational reporting requirements. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
