Scheduled Hours

40Works with Clinical trial budget and billing coordinators reviewing protocols and approving budgets and contracts for accuracy. When necessary, will step in to assist billing coordinators with budget questions and negotiations with sponsors/vendors. Assists management in establishing relationships with other departments in which clinical trial related billing is needed, and to also establish research related costs for services. Serves as a point of contact between both Washington University and BJC Hospital billing compliance offices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight, and training for clinical research financial billing coordinators who perform a review of new protocols, protocol amendments and Investigators initiated concept studies to establish and negotiate budgets for clinical trials. Performs a second review of all protocols, budgets and contracts for accuracy and observance of all appropriate billing compliance rules.
  • Serves as a supervisory point of contact for Washington University and BJC billing compliance offices. Has a strong understanding of billing compliance rules, procedures and workflows to be able to provide consistent training and sound decisions regarding building budgets that are compliant. When needed, will work with compliance managers to improve and streamline processes when possible.
  • In collaboration with management, creates and maintains documentation of updated cost for patient related procedures, detailed work instructions for billing coordinators and updating budget justification documents to be sent to sponsor/vendors.
  • When necessary, works with other departments to set up services for clinical trial patients procedures performed in accordance with the protocol and is responsible for establishing a workflow to ensure study plans are in place to assist the study coordinators in completing study procedures and to ensure that supporting departments’ charges for study service are appropriately captured and billed to the study.
  • Provides support and training to research coordinators as needed to facilitate appropriate billing of services to the trial.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
