The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Psych - Behavioral Neurobiology, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.General ResponsibilitiesTo serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides coordination and administrative support for clinical research studies by assisting with participant recruitment, study visits, data collection, regulatory compliance, and maintenance of study records.Works closely with investigators and research staff to ensure protocol adherence and successful study conduct.Performs other duties as assigned.Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320
High School diploma or GED required.PreferencesBachelor's degree in public health, biology, health sciences, psychology, social work, or a similar discipline preferred, and the ability to learn and apply clinical research principles and regulatory requirements. Experience in a healthcare, research, public health, social services, or related setting.Experience interacting with study participants, patients, or community members and performing data collection or administrative tasks is preferred.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple study participants, visits, and deadlines simultaneously.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with research participants, healthcare providers, community partners, and study personnel.Ability to recruit, screen, consent, and retain participants in research studies, including individuals from vulnerable or underserved populations.Experience with data collection, data entry, and database management while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.Knowledge of or ability to learn human subjects research regulations, informed consent procedures, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and institutional research policies.Ability to maintain detailed regulatory and study documentation and ensure compliance with research protocols.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.Sensitivity and professionalism when working with individuals affected by infectious diseases, substance use disorders, and related social or health challenges.Ability to travel locally and work flexible hours as needed to support participant recruitment and study visits.Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and non-stigmatizing interactions with individuals affected by infectious diseases, substance use disorders, and other complex health conditions.Experience working with marginalized, vulnerable, or underserved populations using a patient-centered and culturally responsive approach.Prior experience in clinical research, public health research, infectious diseases, substance use disorder, behavioral health, or community-engaged research.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with REDCap, electronic data capture systems, and research databases.Strong communication skills and ability to build trust and rapport with diverse participant populations.
