This Clinical Research Assistant will support clinical research in rare genetic conditions by facilitating online enrollment, online, remote and in person data collection, collection of medical records, and collection of biospecimens from patients around the world with rare genetic conditions we study in Wendy Chung’s lab. Collection and analysis of these data will help us characterize these new genetic conditions and design clinical trials to test new treatments and interventions to treat these conditions. These rare genetic conditions include conditions that affect neurodevelopment, behavior including autism, structural congenital anomalies, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiomyopathies. The Clinical Research Assistant will work with a team of physicians, scientists, genetic counselors, and nurses working together with rare diseases patient advocacy groups to better understand these rare genetic conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Principal Investigator and/or designees implement clinical research projects such as enrollment, consent, collection of clinical data and biospecimens.
  • Responsible for daily operations of the study. Develops and implements processes and procedures to meet study goals and protocol requirements. Participate in training and maintaining study related materials.
  • Consents and enrolls patients for research studies by providing detailed information on the Clinical Study to patients and families. Evaluate the suitability of prospective study candidates and make selections based on study inclusion criteria. Provide input for updates of SOPs.
  • Assist with maintaining best practice guidelines for conducting various clinical research protocols.
  • Provides data management, and methodological support to Principal Investigator and/or designees in the maintenance of databases.
  • Maintains study specific data management and quality assurance procedures.
  • Works with Principal Investigators and lab members to plan analyses, clean and verify data and facilitate preparation of datasets for analyses.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and writing skills to provide critical information to team members, patients, and families with ability to triage and escalate concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting abilities and resourcefulness.
