The Clinical Quality Assurance Coordinator performs targeted medical record reviews to monitor compliance with
defined AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators (PSI), other nationally recognized quality indicators or CMS/TJC defined core
measures. The Coordinator works closely with members of the various clinical departments to identify opportunities for
clinical quality improvement and other special projects as identified. This position requires significant data analysis,
presentation and interpersonal skills to influence different areas of the hospital.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers to ensure an integrated approach to
care. Maintains customer rights in accordance with institutional policies by demonstrating respect for
individuality and others, honoring cultural and religious differences, maintaining confidentiality to
information, and demonstrating ethical behaviors on honesty, fairness and equity.
Supports and contributes to the mission of the organization and the department. Utilizes educational
theories and principles to foster educational development of staff. Utilizes principles of communication,
change theory and knowledge of current research in health care quality and patient. Researches methods to
design and carry out processes that advance the goals and objectives of the Medical Center Performance
Improvement/Patient Safety plan.
Identifies cases for inclusion in the clinical review program through a variety of sources. Analyzes data,
identifies opportunities for improvement and communicates results to key stakeholders. Reviews identified
cases against to determine validity of case for inclusion/exclusion. Collects all data components for the
program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record system. Generates reports in the
appropriate format. Able to display data in a readable/meaningful manner.
Consistently demonstrates knowledge obtained during in-service education, training programs and work
effort within department goals and standards
Identifies potential PI/FMEA projects. Assists clinical teams with data from a variety of sources within the
QM Department. Explains and calculates FMEA scores. Communicates effectively with team members for
upcoming meetings and prepares for those meetings ahead of time (i.e. agenda, minutes, speakers, etc).
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.


Required Minimum Education:

  • Associates Other or Bachelors Other-Preferred


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):


Required Minimum Experience:


Minimum 2 years in a clinical setting providing direct patient care. Required or
Minimum 2 years in a healthcare setting with focus in quality and process improvement Preferred


Required Minimum Skills:


Computer, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) High
Previous experience working in a Quality- preferred Low
Management Department in a health care setting.- Preferred Low
Understanding of how the medical center departments interact with each other to support patient care and operations.- Preferred Low
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.- Preferred Low
Ability to work with variety of staff.- Preferred Low
