Job Description

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in Rochester, New York, a leading academic institution, seeks outstanding candidates with an M.D. or equivalent and a passion for academic medicine who are board-eligible or board-certified in Pulmonary Diseases or Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine to join our diverse and collegial faculty group in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine, and the Comprehensive Sleep Center in the Department of Neurology.

The University of Rochester is a national leader in translational, lung biology, clinical, and population science research, and maintains a strong and active faculty development program. The Pulmonary and Critical Care Division offers outstanding clinical practice opportunities, including multiple medical intensive care units, inpatient pulmonary disease consultation services, and outpatient pulmonary disease subspecialty clinics (advanced asthma, interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary nodules, thoracic oncology, bronchiectasis, and lung cancer screening). Efforts to support education and basic, clinical, and translational research in lung diseases are available. We have a competitive PCCM Fellowship Program with 6 fellows per year, supported in part by an NHLBI T32 Training Grant. Our research portfolio is robust and comprises multiple clinical trials, RO-1-funded research in asthma, respiratory failure, lung cancer screening, pulmonary hypertension, and environmental exposures and their impact on respiratory diseases. Many of our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized leaders, including a former president of ATS and leaders in CHEST. The University of Rochester ComprehensiveSleep Center is recognized as a national leader in clinical care, education, and research in sleep medicine. We are seeking a dynamic, board-certified or board-eligible, fellowship-trained sleep specialist to help expand our multidisciplinary sleep medicine program. The candidate will provide care in the outpatient Sleep Center or integrated into their pulmonary practice. Additional opportunities include interpreting sleep studies and engaging in the education of fellows, residents, and medical students.

Qualifications

M.D. Degree or equivalent

Must obtain a New York State Medical License prior to start date

Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

Eligible for Board Certification in Pulmonary Diseases and/or Critical Care Medicine

Eligible for Board Certification in Sleep Medicine

Commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and collaborative academic advancement

Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required

Compliance with University and New York State health requirements

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
