Job Description

We are searching for a Clinical Program Coordinator - Psychology for the Cancer Center- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will coordinate all activities related to the clinical program. This includes but is not limited to: coordination of all activities related to evaluation and consultation, coordination of Physicians, interventions, family communication and education, coordination of multidisciplinary teams to assess and care for the patient, care of the inpatients, discharge planning, outpatient follow-up as well as pertinent data management for the program/clinic for research, outcomes and/or reporting purposes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides education to those in need. Provides education to patients, families, communities, and other hospital/medical staff
  • Provides appropriate educational material for families and staff as observed by the clinic chief and/or designee
  • Promotes education about the program to physician groups as well as in the community as observed by the clinic chief or designee. Work with multi-institution marketing team to create awareness of and brand identity for the Clinic
  • Coordinates all activities necessary for the program/clinic. Coordinates all activity for identification, evaluation, and presentation of potential patients according to Departmental policy as observed by Clinic Chief or attending physician
  • Assures that all patient care and testing are coordinated with consultants and primary care physicians
  • Accurately maintains scheduling of outpatient appointments, including consultant evaluations, necessary testing, and visits in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist with obtaining necessary determination of benefits prior to beginning the evaluation process and final approval prior to any surgical procedures.
  • Provides follow-up on patients. Provides patients and families consistent and complete follow-up information including signs and symptoms of difficulties, and follow-up appointments on an ongoing basis as observed by Clinic Chief or designee’s review
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary team conferences to review cases and determine agreed upon plan of care
  • Provides accurate assessment of the patient’s medical condition when communicating with physicians and hospital personnel. Intervenes appropriately to prevent potential problems or complications
  • Acts as a patient advocate in maintaining communication and promoting continuity of care between clinical program and referring and community physicians
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with patients, patient support system, peers, physicians and other hospital departments
  • Responds to telephone inquiries in a timely, professional, and courteous manner as evidenced by satisfaction surveys, customer complaints, and supervisory observation
  • As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • 3 years licensed clinical experience required
  • Graduation from an educational program applicable to the program specialty (the area of the applicable license)
  • Licenses/Certifications - one of the following is required:
    • LMSW - Licensed Master Social Worker by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
    • LPA - Licensed Psychological Associate by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
    • LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
    • LMSW-AP - Licensed Master Social Worker - Advance Practice by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
    • LBSW - Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
    • LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor by the Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC)
