Short Description

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services in various specialties to ensure optimal safety and cost-effective therapeutic regimens in collaboration with respective specialty disciplines

Provide clinical pharmacy services for optimal cost effective patient care. Reviews physician orders to determine therapeutic rationale and safe patient regimens.Responsible for oversight and monitoring/data collection of patientsEducate health professionals, pharmacy staff, patients and students through inservices and written/verbal materials. Provides preceptorship and mentorship to students, faculty and residentsMultidisciplinary collaboration for policies, procedures, guidelines and protocolsCollaborates with specialty areas to ensure appropriate drug utilization for cost effective therapyAssists with cost containment initiatives through formulary review and drug use evaluationsProvides input and supports pharmacy department initiatives in the daily collaboration with the clinical teamsEffectively communicates recommendations and education to pharmacy and the healthcare team
