Job Summary: The Pharmacist Clinical PRN is responsible for working with other clinicians to ensure quality multi-disciplinary patient care including drug therapy management. This job performs drug utilization reviews, monitors for drug interactions, participates in antibiotic stewardship program, provides pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring services to the medical staff and evaluates potential adverse drug events. The Pharmacist Clinical PRN is also responsible for medical, education, nursing, pharmacy and other clinical staff as well as patients of JPS Health Network.Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Provides clinical leadership for pharmaceutical care in areas of responsibility.
Acts as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, will participate in didactic and experiential education.
Represents the department in interdepartmental/district meetings.
Presents education to pharmacy, nursing, medical staff and other clinicians as necessary.
Advises physicians on the inherent dangers of drugs and their eventual side effects as well as helping them in the prescription of correct doses. Promotes improvement in drug usage/dosage and in the supervision of therapeutic procedures for best results.
Prevents, detects, and resolves medication-related problems and makes appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy recommendations as part of the interdisciplinary team.
Determines and resolves any medication therapy problems including drugs without indications, medical conditions for which no therapy is prescribed, therapy inappropriate for medical condition, incomplete immunization record, inappropriate dose, dosage form, duration, schedule, route of administration, method of administration, therapeutic duplication, medication allergies, and clinically significant drug-dug, drug-disease, drug-nutrient, or drug-laboratory test interactions.
Verifies patient medication orders for appropriateness and accuracy.
Participates with clinical team and the Pharmacy department to evaluate and measures the impact of new approaches that have been implemented.

Required Qualifications: Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent from an accredited College of PharmacyOne (1) year residency through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) OR four (4) plus years of direct patient care that demonstrates medication managementANDMust have current licensure from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state. Preceptor with TX State Board of Pharmacy or complete within three (3) months of hire. Must have certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or be able to complete within 18 months of hire. Current JPS-recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and must be maintained throughout employment. May complete within three (3) months of hire. Must maintain all certifications throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years residency through the American Society of Health–System Pharmacists (ASHP)
