As COS, you will lead the team of Dental Assistants in delivering patient-centered care. Strong clinical leadership skills are a must, as you’ll be expected to hire, train, and mentor our Dental Assistants while also continuously modeling clinical excellence. Our COS will also need to: have a positive outlook, engage in innovative problem solving, and serve with our robust practice leadership team to develop/implement workflows and promote a high-quality patient experience. Schedule: Full-Time, Salaried, Monday through Friday, hours to be determined.

Highlights of the Position:

  • Ensures clinical operations are patient-centered and mission-focused. Continuously looks to seek improvement and implement best practices.
  • Leads the Dental Assistant (DA) team daily, providing a model of positive, compassionate, care for our patients and service for our providers.
  • Develops/Mentors/Trains the DA team to continually improve performance and clinical competencies. Engages in ongoing conversation for quality monitoring and development.
  • Collaborates with practice leadership team on workflow changes, process improvement, and in delivery of supreme patient care.
  • Participate in meetings and as a member of committees to help develop relationships with other clinics and represent their own clinic in a positive, professional and collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Empowers all levels of staff to achieve excellences and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Performs all functions of Dental Assistant role as outlined in PCHC’s Dental Assistant Job Description and Clinical Competency Checklist. Assists with covering the clinical needs of the clinic by providing direct support to the providers in the instances of staff call outs.

Requirements:

  • A college degree is preferred. High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a primary healthcare or related professional setting as a Dental Assistant required.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Relevant experience in a position with some leadership responsibility at PCHC may be substituted for previous supervisory experience.
  • Certified Dental Assistant through DANB or ability to become certified within 6 months.
  • Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.

PCHC, a non-profit organization founded in 1997, is the only Federally Qualified Health Center in the Greater Bangor area, Waldo County, and in the Jackman region. Its purpose is to ensure access to comprehensive and integrated out-patient health care services to those on MaineCare, Medicare and those both with and without insurance – regardless of their ability to pay. In addition, PCHC has a team of medical specialists who deliver a wide range of specialty services including allergy, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, dermatology and osteopathic manipulative therapy. All PCHC services are provided with a sliding fee scale based on income through its Affordable Care Program to make certain that everyone can obtain the healthcare services they need. About 7% of PCHC’s budget is funded by Federal operating grants.
