Job Description

This is a hybrid position based at our beautiful corporate office located in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical Operations Manager serves as a key resource for practice integration activities, clinical policy development, staff training, and value-based care initiatives. This position drives accountability through performance monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts designed to optimize clinical operations and patient care delivery.
Clinical Operations and Practice Optimization
  • Develop, implement, and monitor standardized clinical workflows and best practices across physician practices to improve efficiency, patient experience, and quality outcomes.
  • Assess clinical operations and identify opportunities to improve staff productivity, patient flow, care coordination, and operational performance.
  • Partner with practice leadership to establish and monitor key clinical performance indicators and operational benchmarks.
  • Support implementation of enterprise-wide clinical initiatives and operational improvement programs.
Practice Integration and Clinical Due Diligence
  • Participate in clinical due diligence activities for practice acquisitions, affiliations, and de novo developments.
  • Participate in the development to playbooks, differentiating clinical compliance activities in both freestanding and hospital outpatient department (HOPD) settings.
  • Evaluate clinical operations, staffing models, workflows, compliance processes, and quality programs during diligence assessments.
  • Lead or support integration efforts to align newly acquired or newly established practices with Surgery Partners’ clinical standards, policies, and operational expectations.
  • Develop and execute integration plans, training programs, and readiness assessments to ensure successful transitions.
Clinical Compliance and Quality Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and compliance programs designed to support patient safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish standards and oversight processes related to infection prevention, medication safety, laboratory result tracking and follow-up, diagnostic studies, clinical documentation, and other patient care functions.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with practice leadership to develop corrective action plans and monitor improvement initiatives when deficiencies are identified.
Leadership Development and Accountability
  • Drive accountability among practice administrators, nurse managers, and clinical coordinators through performance tracking tools, scorecards, and operational reviews.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with practice clinical leaders to review performance metrics, address operational challenges, and identify support needs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, clinical excellence, and operational accountability throughout the physician practice network.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource to practice leadership teams on clinical operations and workforce development initiatives.
Staff Education and Workforce Development
  • Design, implement, and maintain onboarding programs for clinical staff across the physician practice portfolio.
  • Develop standardized training curricula, competency assessments, and continuing education programs to support clinical excellence and staff development.
  • Partner with practice leaders to identify training needs and implement targeted educational initiatives.
  • Promote consistent competency validation processes across all clinical roles.
Clinical Leadership Collaboration and Best Practice Sharing
  • Convene and facilitate forums, councils, and workgroups for clinical leaders across the physician practice platform.
  • Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adoption of evidence-based practices across practices and markets.
  • Identify successful operational and clinical initiatives and support their replication across the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison between corporate leadership and practice-based clinical teams.
Value-Based Care Support
  • Support organizational value-based care initiatives through provider and staff education, workflow development, and performance improvement efforts.
  • Assist practices in implementing programs related to quality reporting, preventive care, chronic disease management, risk adjustment, and population health.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics associated with value-based care contracts and quality programs.
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical stakeholders to improve quality outcomes and support strategic value-based care objectives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related healthcare field required; Master’s degree preferred. Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare operations or clinical leadership experience in a physician practice environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of physician practice operations, compliance, quality improvement, staff development, and value-based care initiatives.
