Job Description

These positions are for Clinical Nurse Specialists - Y-HiTH (528059d and 528061d). The positions are also being advertised as Allied Health Professionals - Y-HiTH (528059 and 528061). The position will be filled on a merit basis.

The Team:

The Youth Hospital in the Home (Y‑HiTH) team is part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in North‑West Tasmania. Based in Devonport, this multidisciplinary team provides intensive, home‑based mental health care for young people aged 16–24. Their work addresses a critical service gap in the region by offering timely mental health support outside of hospital settings.

The team focuses on reducing hospital admissions, delivering therapeutic care in the home, and supporting family‑centred recovery. They collaborate closely with young people and their families to create individualised treatment plans, offering multiple daily home visits supplemented by telephone and telehealth support. This approach ensures young people receive care comparable to an inpatient unit while remaining in a familiar and supportive environment.

The Role:

Be part of a multidisciplinary youth mental health service (16-25 years of age) delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

You will need to:

  • Provide clinical expertise in contemporary nursing practice within the Y-HiTH setting, promoting professional standards of practice and an environment conducive to innovation and change that promotes best practice and meets established accreditation standards of practice.
  • Maintain and display advanced clinical practice skills within the Y-HiTH and act as a resource person to other members of the multidisciplinary team in the management of complex clinical issues.
  • Provide recovery focused specialist mental health assessments and intensive home-based care, using recognised assessment methods and evidence-based interventions, for young people and their families/significant others of the Y-HiTH.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent, full time and part time, shift worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:

$109,767 to $115,813 pro rata per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
  • Multidisciplinary allowance may also apply

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Working with Children Registration
  • Current Driver’s License
