Clinical Nurse Specialist (Urology) Specific Purpose 37.5 Hours per Week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Urology) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.

Job Purpose:

The post holder has a pivotal role in service planning and development, coordinating and managing activity and resources within the urology service. The Urology CNS responsibilities include overseeing the quality of nursing and healthcare staff care, the development and implementation of policy and procedures, the monitoring of activity and the delivery of agreed levels of service for the designated areas. You will provide clinical leadership and promotion of the mission & values of the hospital.

Ideal Candidate:

Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]

Relevant Post Graduate Clinical Qualification in Urology or in the process of completing same.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Flexible approach to work patterns as the post holder will be required to rotate between days.

Essential Qualifications:

Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]

At least 5 years post registration experience, minimum 1 year within Urology

Suitable management experience and /or qualification

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, accountability and communication skills

The ability to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.

Promote and foster a culture of Care, Compassion and Commitment honouring the core values of Bon Secours Hospital System

Roster will generally be over 5 days a week however a flexible approach to work patterns is required in line with service.

Experience & Responsibility:

To manage the activities of the urology service from initial consultation to pre-assessment and discharge, liaising with Consultants, Nursing Staff and all other health care professionals and support services.

Communicate results of assessments, treatment / care programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy / as required.

Develop metrics for quality monitoring and performance review.

Carries out nursing care and treatments to the highest possible standard according to agreed Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care based on the nursing process approach and maintains appropriate records. Implements discharge planning based on patient care needs

Handles and correctly disposes of medical waste as per hospital policy
