The Role

The Acute Pain Service is a speciality unit within the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine (DAPM). The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Acute Pain Service works as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, under the indirect supervision of the Clinical Nurse Consultant and the Deputy Director Staff Management, DAPM. The CNS - Acute Pain Service:

  • Is responsible for the planning and coordination of the daily acute pain management round to ensure efficient and effective service delivery, optimal use of staff, equipment and consumables, and the improvement of healthcare outcomes for patients reviewed by the Acute Pain Service.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development of Acute Pain Service education programs and delivers education in acute pain management to nurses and junior medical staff within the Hospitals South.
  • Undertakes quality improvement and clinical research activities and initiates strategies for change that contribute to continuous improvement and the application of evidence-based practice.

You will need

  1. Advanced level of knowledge and skills in acute pain management nursing, combined with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant professional governing body guidelines and standards.
  2. Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication with evidence of effective working relationships as well as the ability to prevent and manage conflict.
  3. Ability to identify the learning needs of patients and staff in relation to acute pain management and the skills to develop, deliver and evaluate education activities that will meet those needs.

Position Features:

  • The Acute Pain Service provides a seven-day service, occupants will be required to take part in the weekend roster

Details of appointment

Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to ten (10) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
