About the role

Mater is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join the Orthopaedics team at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane on a permanent part-time basis (32 hours per week).

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a busy and well-supported acute surgical environment, while working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to clinical excellence and exceptional patient outcomes.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Nurse within Orthopaedics, you will provide advanced nursing care and clinical leadership to support safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering evidence-based nursing care across the patient journey, from admission through to discharge
  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans
  • Collaborating closely with medical, allied health, and nursing colleagues to optimise patient outcomes
  • Supporting patient education, informed consent, and advocacy throughout treatment and recovery
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, safety standards, and best-practice clinical outcomes
  • Providing clinical guidance, support, and mentorship to less experienced staff as required

About you

You are a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering outstanding patient care. You will bring:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of three years’ post-registration clinical experience, ideally within orthopaedics or an acute surgical setting
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and care coordination skills
  • A commitment to patient-centred care, safety, and Mater’s values and behavioural standards
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing clinical priorities
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty (desirable, but not essential)

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
