About the role:
We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Ophthalmology Scrub/ Scout to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. Monday to Friday flexible roster with optional weekend shifts available.
About Westside Private Hospital:
Westside Private Hospital is a specialised short-stay facility, supporting a diverse range of specialties including Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology, General & Colorectal Surgery, Dermatology, MOHs, IVF, Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Oral Surgery.
We have 4 Operating Theatres, 1 procedure room, 3 treatment rooms, a 12-bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, a 9-chair Stage 3 PACU, and 6-bed surgical ward.
Duties and responsibilities:
As a Clinical Nurse, you are the heartbeat of our team, bringing our mission of the best possible care to life. You’ll support the smooth running of our facility by driving clinical excellence and patient safety at every stage of their journey. Through close collaboration with our multidisciplinary team, you’ll ensure outcomes that are positive, reliable and centred on the person in front of you.
With respect and collaboration, you will:
• Deliver evidence-based care: Monitor patient wellbeing and administer safe, high-quality treatment tailored to each stage of their hospital stay.
• Prepare for safe, efficient surgery: Ensure the facility, equipment and clinical environment are ready to support high-quality surgical care. Coordinate and support procurement activities so teams have the resources they need.
• Prioritise and monitor patient safety: Maintain clear team communication, assess patient progress, respond promptly to changes or complications, and keep patient safety central to all decisions.
• Mentor and educate colleagues: Share your clinical knowledge to build confidence, strengthen teamwork and support safe, consistent practice across the team.
• Drive quality and safety improvement: Support the GM/DON and NUM with quality and safety activities, helping embed continuous improvement, clinical excellence and safe practice across the hospital.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
• Advanced experience in Ophthalmology Scrub/ Scout nursing within a surgical hospital setting.
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the role, or a commitment to working towards them.
• Advanced clinical and technical capability, supported by sound problem-solving skills.
• A genuine passion for education, mentoring and clinical leadership.
• The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with patients, doctors, colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Strong time management, organisational, leadership and communication skills.
