Job Purpose

  • The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of designated patient care areas to ensure the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality patient care. Working both independently and collaboratively with hospital leadership and corporate partners, this role provides operational, clinical, and administrative leadership for the site.
  • Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, developing and maintaining staff schedules, and ensuring adequate staffing and equipment are available to meet patient care needs. The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for developing, managing, and monitoring departmental budgets to support operational and financial goals.
  • This position also provides direct patient care as needed based on patient volume and staffing requirements. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, annual evaluations, employee development, and corrective action for clinical staff.
  • As the department's clinical expert in emergency nursing, the Clinical Nurse Manager serves as a resource and mentor to staff, promotes evidence-based practice, and supports quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Current Texas Nursing License issued through the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) Certification, American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, American Heart Association or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification (ENPC)

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years’ management or emergency department charge nurse experience

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing standards, with the ability to apply them effectively in clinical practice and operational decision-making.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and exercises sound judgment when handling sensitive employee, patient, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
