We are hiring Clinical Nurse Manager 2 -Cardiology Day Ward Maternity Leave cover into our Hospital in Cork, Ireland. Responsibilities ​ Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Cardiology Day Ward , ensuring safe, efficient and patient-centred care. Provide clinical leadership and professional support to nursing staff, promoting high standards of practice and patient safety. Coordinate patient admissions, assessments, preparation, procedures and discharge within the cardiology day-care pathway. Ensure patients are appropriately assessed and prepared before cardiac procedures, investigations or treatments. Coordinate patient flow and liaise closely with cardiologists, Cath Lab, diagnostics, anaesthetics, phlebotomy and other multidisciplinary teams to support timely care. This reflects the type of coordination described by Mater Private for its cardiac day-unit nursing management. Monitor post-procedure patients, ensuring appropriate observation, clinical assessment and readiness for safe discharge. Ensure patients and their families receive appropriate information and education regarding procedures, medications, follow-up care and lifestyle management. Manage staffing levels, allocation of duties, daily workload and staff rosters to ensure adequate clinical cover. Support the recruitment, induction, training, supervision and development of nursing and healthcare staff. Promote compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, NMBI standards, infection prevention requirements and quality and safety procedures . Monitor and maintain appropriate standards of documentation, medication management, clinical governance and risk management. Requirements Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or equivalent professional registration body An advanced course or qualification in Interventional Cardiology is desirable Previous experience in a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab) with up-to-date knowledge of interventional cardiology Detailed knowledge of cardiac procedures, relevant medical conditions and clinical interventions Minimum 3 years’ experience in a people management or clinical management role A recognised management qualification is desirable Proven leadership and change management skills, with the ability to lead and support service development Excellent knowledge of contemporary nursing practice, clinical standards and professional skills Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with excellent organisational skills Current BLS and ACLS certification Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills Benefits Flexible working options Defined contribution pension scheme Bike to Work and Tax saver travel schemes Employee Assistance & Occupational Health services Discounted staff meals On-site/nearby staff parking (role-dependent) Strong support for training, development, and career progression Graduate Nurse Programme with structured learning
