
Coordinate and oversee daily patient care operations, ensuring safe, effective and efficient delivery of care.
Assess patient care needs, staff competencies and workload requirements, and allocate appropriate staff and patient assignments.
Delegate duties appropriately to Staff Nurses, HCAs and support staff in accordance with professional, legal and hospital guidelines.
Maintain effective communication with the Nurse Manager, Nurse Supervisor, multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and external agencies regarding patient care and unit requirements.
Monitor and manage clinical risks, complaints, documentation, internal controls, quality standards and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Supervise direct and indirect patient care activities, provide clinical support when required, and ensure appropriate use of human and financial resources.
Participate in quality improvement, audits, accreditation processes, health promotion initiatives and the evaluation of clinical practices against best-practice standards.
Support education and professional development by participating in staff induction, student supervision, teaching programmes, preceptorship, performance reviews and mandatory training.
Promote effective teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration and positive working relationships while acting as a professional role model within the clinical environment.
Maintain professional standards and personal development, attend meetings and training, comply with hospital policies, and remain flexible to support other departments according to patient and hospital needs.
Hold current NMBI registration as a General Nurse in good standing, with BLS and ACLS certification; a relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred, with a willingness to complete one within 18 months of commencing the role.
Have preferably at least two years’ clinical experience in a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, with recent relevant experience in an acute hospital setting and knowledge of developments and national nursing strategies in the specialty.
Demonstrate strong leadership, teaching, clinical judgement, critical thinking, problem-solving, multitasking, decision-making and professional development skills, with effective planning, organisation and time-management abilities.
Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, including the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, manage change, coordinate daily patient lists, and adapt to rotations, rostering, night duty and on-call requirements.
Maintain a strong patient-centred approach by delivering high-quality care, treating patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respect, communicating clearly in English, and demonstrating motivation, flexibility and an innovative approach to practice.
