
The Clinical Educator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff within the hospital setting. This role supports clinical excellence, professional development, evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and patient safety initiatives. The Clinical Educator collaborates with clinical leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure staff competency and high-quality patient care
Position Responsibilities:
Staff Education & Training
Develops and delivers orientation, onboarding, and continuing education programs for nursing staff.
Assesses learning needs and creates educational plans to address competency gaps.
Facilitates classroom instruction, hands-on clinical training, simulation exercises, and e-learning initiatives.
Provides education related to new equipment, technologies, policies, and clinical procedures.
Includes principles of adult learning and develops content specific to target population and identified educational need
Supports transition-to-practice programs for new graduate nurses.
Serves as a resource tonursing students.
Clinical Competency & Professional Development
Evaluates clinical competencies and maintains competency validation records as needed
Mentors and coachesstaff to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
Promotes evidence-based nursing practice and current best practice standards.
Servesasaclinicalresourceforemployeesandphysiciansinthemanagementofpatientcareneeds
Maintainsownclinicalcompetencybycompletingallrequiredemployeeeducationalrequirements.
Quality & Patient Safety
Collaborates with nursing leadership to support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives as well as regulatory readiness activities.
Examines clinical workflow and gaps in clinical process, mitigating barriers to ensure success of educational initiatives.
Acts as a change agent, promoting a positive culture of adaptability, innovation, and improvement.
Promotes compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
Partners with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support organizational goals.
Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for nursing staff.
Participates in committees, projects, and performance improvement initiatives as assigned
Assists in the development and revision of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines as assigned
Program Evaluation & Documentation
Tracks and evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs and learning outcomes
Maintains accurate education records and reports.
Utilizes feedback from leadership and staff, data analysis, and quality metrics to improve training programs

Qualifications
Education:
Four year college (Bachelor’s Degree) Required
Graduate (Master’s Degree, JD or Ph.D.) Preferred
Licensure(s):
Active State of Maine RN License
Certification(s):
BLS within 30 days of hire; ACLS encouraged
