About the Role
The Clinical Coordinator supports the St John’s Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and is primarily responsible for managing the nursing workforce and clinical operations of St John’s. The primary focus is on ensuring a high quality, evidence based and proactive provision of health care services that promotes a patient-centred approach to care.

1. Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, and practical support to the nursing workforce, fostering a culture of professional development and continuous learning.

2. Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of education programs, ensuring staff are competent in safe clinical practice and familiar with local operational policies, procedures, and processes

3. Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive orientation program for all new staff, tailored to the unique requirements of the correctional health environment.

4. Participate in and/or lead multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, ward rounds, and other forums for collaborative care planning.

5. Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the St John’s team, including incident management, risk mitigation, and clinical safety.

Classifications for this position will be ZJ4 ($113,646.00 pro rata per annum)

Your Contribution

  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in general nursing with current AHPRA nursing registration.
  • Substantial skills, knowledge and experience in the acute, sub-acute, and/or primary health care settings as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to lead others, develop strong working relationships with the nursing workforce and act as a role model.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and manage change.
  • Previous Education experience
  • Current National criminal history check

St Vincent’s Correctional Health Service (SVCHS) operates across 3 key areas:

• St John’s Subacute Inpatient Unit located within Port Phillip Prison. St John's is a 20 bed sub-acute inpatient unit

• St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM), Fitzroy including St Augustine’s Acute Secure Ward, Specialist clinic liaison for correctional patients

• SVHM State-wide Hepatitis program

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
