The Team

The Neonatal and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NPETS) works in partnership with the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) multidisciplinary team at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The service coordinates the safe retrieval and transfer of critically unwell infants and children across Tasmania and interstate, connecting patients, families, and healthcare services with specialist neonatal and paediatric care.

NPETS works collaboratively with health professionals and services across Tasmania to support continuity of care, timely access to specialist services and the best possible outcomes for infants, children, and their families.

The Role

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant – NPETS, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and coordination for neonatal and paediatric retrievals both within Tasmania and interstate. Working with a high degree of professional independence, you will be a key point of contact throughout the retrieval process and work closely with the NPICU multidisciplinary team and internal and external healthcare providers.

You will

• Plan and coordinate the safe retrieval and transfer of infants and children.
• Provide expert clinical advice, guidance and support to healthcare professionals and services.
• Lead and contribute to education, research, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across Tasmania.
• Support service development, clinical guidelines and improvements in neonatal and paediatric retrieval care.

You will need

• Demonstrated advanced competence and clinical nursing expertise in NPICU and NPETS retrieval including the ability to apply principles of best practice to the clinical setting through the development and implementation of appropriate clinical guidelines.
• Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to provide expert advice and support to staff, patients and their families/carers.
• Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate education sessions for staff, patients and their families/carers as they relate to patient care within the retrieval service, together with the ability to educate and influence a broad range of stakeholders including health professionals and consumers.

Details of appointment

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
• Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
