The Team

The Royal Hobart Hospital seeks a highly motivated and team orientated Clinical Nurse Consultant -McGrath Cancer Care Nurse to provide leadership and direction to support and care for patients within Southern Tasmania who have been diagnosed with Genitourinary Cancer.

Cancer and Blood Services (CaBS) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), is a comprehensive service dedicated to cancer and blood disorder patients including the state-wide bone marrow transplant service. The units together with the McGrath Foundation of Australian work together to provide treatment, research, clinical trials and education regarding these diseases and survivorship care.

The Cancer and Blood Services Team, with their multi-disciplinary approach, not only support the patient but allow health professionals to deliver optimum clinical outcomes for patients and their families. The Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (Genitourinary):

  • Provides leadership in the development and enhancement of specialist services for women and men presenting with a Genitourinary cancer and facilitates innovative evidence-based practice, in accordance with clinical practice guidelines and the McGrath Model of Care.
  • Acts as a clinical expert in genitourinary cancer and functions as a resource person to patients, families, and staff across the Department of Health.
  • Has expert knowledge regarding the spectrum of genitourinary cancer, inclusive of health assessment, treatment pathways, referrals, and on-going coordination of care

About the successful candidate:

The successful candidate will bring specialist clinical expertise, strong leadership capability and a passion for improving cancer care outcomes.
  • Extensive oncology, palliative care or genitourinary cancer nursing experience, with demonstrated capability to assess, coordinate and manage complex patient care at an advanced practice level.
  • Proven ability to lead service improvements, influence clinical practice and implement evidence-based approaches that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to educate, support and collaborate effectively with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational, leadership and strategic planning skills, with experience contributing to clinical guidelines and service planning initiatives.

Details of appointment

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, 21 September to 30 June 2027

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Post Graduate qualifications in oncology, or palliative care
  • AHPRA Nursing Registration Division 1
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
