JOB SUMMARY

The three pillars of a surgery center’s management team are the Administrator, Clinical Operations Manager and Business Office Manager. It is the responsibility of this team, starting with the Administrator, to deliver quality patient care and achieve the Center’s goals. The Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for managing all clinical functions and related personnel. Additionally, the Clinical Manager/Coordinator is expected to assist the Administrator in enforcing the policies and procedures that have been developed by the Center’s Governing Body and Management Company.

• Clinical Manager/Coordinator directs, supervises, plans, staffs, coordinates and controls the functions of assigned areas of responsibilities.

· Plans and directs the activities of the Operating / Procedure Room, Pre-Op, PACU and all other clinical areas of the Center in accordance with established nursing and ASC policies.

· Adapts philosophy and objectives of nursing to the Operating / Procedure Room, Pre-Op, PACU and all other clinical areas of the Center.

· Implements standards that ensure safe and therapeutically effective nursing care of patients.

· Keeps the Administrator informed of all activities in his/her areas, and seeks guidance from administration as needed.

· Analyzes and evaluates performance of personnel and makes recommendations.

· Participates in the preparation of a budget that will allow for adequate personnel, supplies and equipment.

· Maintains good relationships with physicians, employees, patients and all other customers

· Active in the professional organization, as well as keeping informed on current developments related to surgery center nursing care.

· Plans, organizes, directs and controls the quality and quantity of nursing care given within specialty areas.

· Maintains knowledge of patients' condition at all times to ensure maximum care and determines the need for additional or modified service.

· Participates in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures of the Center as related to patient care and personnel.

Requirements

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing

Current licensure by the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse

Experience in which progressive leadership, administrative and clinical competencies have been demonstrated, preferably with a minimum two years in the operating room. Management experience desirable. Current certification in ACLS (and PALS where appropriate) or ability/commitment to achievement of certification within 60 days of employment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to move upper extremities within full range of motion as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens is great.

Language Skills:

Speaking voice that has good quality and tone; speech that is understandable. Additional

language desirable.
