Under the direction of the Director of Operations and in partnership with the department's Physician Director, this role oversees the day-to-day clinical operations of the department. The Clinic Operations Manager provides leadership and support for clinical staff, ensures efficient and effective clinic operations, and helps implement departmental and organizational initiatives. This position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality patient care, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient and staff experience.

Essential Functions
-Provide operational leadership for the department's clinical areas, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervising clinical staff in collaboration with department leadership.
-Assess staff performance and competencies while supporting professional growth and development.
-Partner with the Director to implement new workflows, policies, and process improvements that enhance efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
-Support departmental and organizational initiatives by contributing to workflow optimization and operational improvements.
-Assist in the development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets, while promoting responsible resource management and financial stewardship.
-Coordinate staffing and resources to ensure appropriate clinical coverage and meet changing patient care needs.
-Promote an exceptional patient experience by ensuring resources are allocated effectively, including accommodations for patients with unique or specialized needs.
-Address patient concerns, questions, and service issues in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner.
-Monitor operational and quality metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and support initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction, quality of care, and overall clinic performance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership or management experience in an ophthalmology or ophthalmic practice required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience partnering with physicians, clinical staff, and operational leaders to support departmental goals.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ophthalmic clinical operations.
