CLINICAL MANAGER OF SPIRITUAL & GRIEF CARE

Location: Burnet Campus, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati OH 45229

Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Benefits: Begin immediately.

Pay starts at $82,000 and can go up based on years of experience.

About the job:

  • Provides religious, spiritual and grief care services to patients, families, and Cincinnati Children’s employees by serving as interdisciplinary partners in care, education, and research at the bedside, at the organization level, and in the community.
  • Develop and implement goals, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures and practices. Lead the development, coaching, motivation and evaluation of department personnel. Conduct staff meetings, leadership team meetings, 1:1 supervisory meetings, and/or staff retreats. Interdisciplinary teamwork will be fostered with all staff. Maintain positive relationships among all members of the team.
  • Provide evidence based and outcome-oriented spiritual care and/or grief care with specialization in pediatric spiritual and grief care.

Job Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Accreditation.
  • 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education as offered through an ACPE accredited organization.
  • Ordination, current endorsement, or good standing in accordance with the requirements of his/her/their own faith tradition or endorsing agency.
  • Board Certification recognized by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Association of Professional Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, and Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains; or others as agreed upon by the Director of Pastoral Care that meet the Common Qualifications and Competencies for Professional Chaplains ( www.professionalchaplains.org).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in providing spiritual and/or grief care in a health care setting required. Leadership/supervisory experience highly desired.

  • Comfort and support on rough days and celebrate joyful moments
  • Perform religious rituals and offer prayer on request
  • Talk about how beliefs strengthen or challenge
  • Discuss concerns about medical procedures or diagnoses
  • Help medical team understand how families’ beliefs affect healthcare decisions
