Job Description

The Radiation Therapy Clinical Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Under the direction of the Therapy Manager, the Therapy Clinical Lead supports the planning, leadership, and coordination of activities related to the delivery of radiation therapy and patient care. This position assists with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff. The role is responsible for promoting a positive first impression for patients, serving as a patient advocate, and helping ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and service.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates competence in all duties of a Foundational Radiation Therapist.

• Mentors and participates in onboarding of new therapists.

• Serves as a liaison between therapists and all other department staff.

• Facilitates therapy team meetings.

• Assists in training therapists on department policies and procedures in tandem with the Radiation Therapy Clinical Coordinator(s).

• Leads or participates in department initiatives and committees.

• Participates in the interview process of new hires and students.

• Assists with facilities and supply orders.

• Optimizes resources and staff coverage in response to vacillating clinical demands.

• Participates in department initiatives and committees.

• Identifies areas of improvement to enhance patient satisfaction.

• Recommends process improvement and provides staff feedback.

• Instigates discussion and provides relevant updates in team meetings.

• Champions a culture of safety for all patients and department staff, notifying Therapy Manager of instances that deviate from NM standards.

• Approaches problems with a solution mindset.

• Sets and executes personal development objectives.

• Mentors Foundational and Advanced Therapists and supports growth for those in training.

• Recommends process improvement and provides staff feedback.

• Assists with inventory and supply order.

• Collects and tracks data as assigned.

• Acts as a primary resource providing competent clinical and professional leadership.

• Functions as a role model for all department staff in promoting NM Patient’s First Mission.

• Completes other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent (Radiologic Technologist with advanced training and board certification in Radiation Therapy)

Licensure:

  • IEMA- Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Medical Radiation Technology licensure

Certification:

  • ARRT- American Registry of Radiologic Technology certification
  • AHA BLS- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association certification

Experience:

  • 1+ Years of experience in the field of Radiation Therapy

Behavioral Attributes:

Preferred

• 1+ Years of employment at Northwestern Medicine Radiation Oncology

• Multilingual Proficiency

• Extensive computer proficiency

• Prior experience as a Radiation Therapist in a comparable clinical setting
